Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas - The Musical Phoenix Theatre reviews
High Energy but Incomplete
The Musical, Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas, attempted to entertain the crowd for 2 hours and 15 minutes straight, but unfortunately, it didn't quite work. An opening act was desperately needed to allow for a more cohesive performance, perhaps with two smaller sets separated by a 15-minute intermission. The solos performed by the various musicians felt like unnecessary fillers that the crowd neither needed nor wanted.
The Auditorium's security oversight was evident when attendees with the cheapest tickets were left standing against the rail at the front of the stage, obstructing the view of those who had paid 50% more. A better approach would have been to allow people to move closer for a picture and then return to their seats.
Despite these shortcomings, I did find the music enjoyable, which is why I am giving them 3 stars.
